During the dog days of summer, thoughts often turn to cool and creamy treats. But for many, dairy products can be a problem. The trend to provide alternatives for those that opt for dairy-free has led Irvine-based Yogurtland to expand its offering of plant-based choices, including its new Piña Colada flavor.

“Expanding our assortment of plant-based options at Yogurtland has become more and more important to provide our customers with delicious flavor profiles, perfect for vegans and non-vegans alike,” said Yogurtland Senior Marketing Manager Brittany Knollmiller.

The current heat wave Irvine is experiencing, with temperatures in the city soaring to 100 degrees on Tuesday, makes it a good time to launch a tropical flavor option. The new offering features a mix of pineapple and coconuts, blended with coconut milk.

Founder Phillip Chang launched the company in 2006. It is now headquartered in Irvine with stores in Irvine Spectrum Center, in Northwood, at UC Irvine, in Woodbridge and at The Market Place.
